About the Building
The unusual curved pediment highlights the facade of this understated and elegant home. Bliss and Faville's Beaux Art training is apparent in the Ionic columns supporting the portico.
The residence was built for Collin Welty, a doctor and son of a wealthy family, as noted in the July 31, 1909 edition of the San Francisco Call: "Other residences in course of con struction in Presidio Terrace are as follows: One by Dr. C. F. Welty on lot 18, costing about $15,000 ... "
