Post Street

Post Street runs east and west through San Francisco, Montgomery and Market to Presidio, passing through downtown, the Financial District, and the Western Addition/lower Pacific Heights.

According to Streets of San Francisco, Post Street was named for Gabriel B. Post, a merchant who arrived in San Francisco in 1847.

An 1861 map of San Francisco shows that this street has been called Post since the early days of San Francisco.
