Bernard Maybeck

Bernard Maybeck (1862 - 1957) was a prominent architect in the San Francisco Bay Area during the early 20th Century.

He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and taught at the University of California, Berkeley. For a time, he worked in the office of Ernest Coxhead. He was a mentor to many California architects, including Julia Morgan and William Wurster.

In addition to the Palace of Fine Arts, several Maybeck buildings still stand in San Francisco, including residences and an auto showroom.
