Napoleon LeBrun

Napoleon LeBrun was born in Philadelphia in 1821. His parents were born in France. His father, Charles, worked as a teacher and translator.

After working in the office of Philadelphia architect Thomas Ustick Walter, he opened his own firm in 1841.

In the mid-1860s, he moved to New York City. His sons, Pierre and Michel, joined his firm, which then became known as N. LeBrun and Sons.

While he was best known for his office buildings and churches, his New York works include several firehouses - LeBrun and Sons were architects for the Fire Department between 1879 and 1895.

LeBrun died in 1901.
